The Alternatives Product Marketing Manager for Franklin Templeton’s EMEA Marketing organization will help position Franklin Templeton’s alternative investment capabilities and products across retail and wealth channels in Asia. This individual will be part of the global alternatives marketing team and dedicated to daily collaboration with EMEA marketing team aiming to grow Franklin Templeton’s alternatives business within the region. The individual will research competitive trends in marketing, develop and manage content with specialized investment managers across real estate, private credit, private equity, hedged strategies, venture capital and digital assets as well as assist colleagues in the implementation of promotional initiatives related to those strategies. Most of this individual’s time will be dedicated to alternative investments content development and the balance of time will be allocated to helping design and execute promotional initiatives.
The Alternatives Product Marketing Manager will ensure there is a clear and compelling marketing message including investment process, portfolio positioning and rationale for each strategy, especially as it relates to solving for the investment challenges of individual investors in the retail and wealth channels. This individual will work closely with other EMEA Marketing colleagues acting as the content development expert on alternative products and campaigns. In addition, the individual will coordinate with their alternative investments marketing peers in other regions on global product launches, packaging and distribution of thought leadership, and product data requirements. For some APAC specific products, the individual will collaborate with portfolio management teams to create content for the selling system. Finally, the individual will maintain some content related to alternative products required by Sales, and partner with operations personnel on maintenance and update of alternatives related content.
The individual will also need to liaise effectively with Product teams, Product Specialists, Compliance and other departments to deliver content and address other potential issues. Key to success in this role will be the ability to think outside of the box about marketing more complex strategies, as well as the ability to act nimbly and re-focus quickly as business needs evolve.
The Alternatives Product Marketing Manager will act as the central marketing authority for those relevant strategies in the EMEA region and therefore must have a strong understanding of the markets relating to their respective strategies. They must be perceived as a credible source of investment related information pertaining to their covered strategies and must have a thorough understanding of all content available and or necessary to be developed in support of assisting the APAC Sales team in selling and in promoting the respective strategies.
This position, to be based in Edinburgh, will report to the Head of Global Strategic Initiatives, while integrating into the EMEA marketing team. The individual will primarily interact with Franklin Templeton’s EMEA marketing team, sales team, product development, and product specialists.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of this position?Develop messaging that positions Franklin Templeton’s Alternative strategies and products as investment solutions which can help address the needs of EMEA clients with a focus on retail and wealth channels.
Develop and manage product collateral in collaboration with product specialists, product development, sales supporting both registered and private funds sold through Franklin Templeton’s EMEA Distribution organization.
Collaborate with marketing operations to lead development of new product materials, including pitchbooks, product profiles, fact sheets and web content.
Ensure content for relevant strategies is consistent with core product messaging.
Obtain intimate knowledge of the investment philosophy and process of each strategy supported – including detailed understanding of current investment themes within the portfolio, knowledge of portfolio holdings, risk attributes of the strategy, past and current positioning of the portfolio, near-term outlook for the strategy and performance attribution in order to develop clear, consistent and pertinent collateral supporting solutions for challenges of our EMEA's retail and wealth clients.
Collaborate with other EMEA Marketing team members and play a key role in creating and reviewing relevant product collateral and reviewing landing pages, social media and emails concerning strategies.
Liaise with marketing operations and other data teams to ensure data and product collateral regarding a given product are accurate and appropriate.
Proofread and conduct quality assurance of electronic and print materials.
Execute other projects and special marketing assignments, as necessary.
What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful? Experience & QualificationsDemonstrated success in the development of multi-faceted, comprehensive product strategy or marketing campaigns in asset management
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Strong experience in asset management or wealth management, preferably in alternatives product specialist or alternatives product marketing roles
