Job DescriptionCoordinates scheduling of operating room surgeries. . Provides patient instructions specific to patient’s next step for their upcoming surgery. Gathers patient information pertinent to operating room. Demonstrates ability to respond to high volumes of patients within a short time span. Actively works with director, manager, and support personnel. Collaborates with appropriate personnel including but not limited to surgery authorization coordinators, verify. Works with the authorization team to ensure all necessary records from outside facilities and tests needed for surgery are ordered and completed in chart. Responsible for keeping an organized database of surgeries to be scheduled. Responsible for providing a positive image through the display of a professional demeanor, superior written and verbal communication skills and adherence to all of the organization’s policies, procedures and protocols. Work is performed in accordance with established procedures under the direction of the clinic leadership.Minimum RequirementsHigh school graduate or equivalentMinimum of two years scheduling experience in a fast-paced clinic or hospital setting.Demonstrated experience working with complex patient scheduling and service access processProven organizational and communication skills.Experience with electronic data management including scheduling, typing, and document formatting.Excellent demonstrated customer service skills, analytical thinking, and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.Ability to work autonomously with ability to follow through all tasks to completion and attention to detail.Possess a high degree of flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to changing demands with the capability to multi-task and communicate effectively in any situation.Ability to perform under pressure, during demanding and chaotic situations.Detail orientedAbility to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff and patients at all times during face to face and over the phone encounters.Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience in registration preferred.Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding.Comprehension of medical terminology.
