Responsible for performing general labor as part of a team that is responsible for track projects including construction, maintenance, inspections, and service.

Job Title: Railroad Track LaborerPosition Overview:
We are seeking a Railroad Track Laborer to perform essential tasks in the maintenance, repair, and construction of railroad tracks. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to safety, and the ability to work in physically demanding environments. You will handle a variety of tasks and tools essential for ensuring the reliability and safety of railroad operations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Drive spikes into ties using manual or powered tools.Move and set cross ties and lengths of steel rail.Shovel stone and maintain ballast alignment.Adjust and lubricate switches to ensure proper operation.Tighten track bolts and check track gauge and cross-level.Carry and use track jacks (approximately 40 lbs.) for maintenance work.Follow company policies on safety and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.Qualifications:To perform this role successfully, candidates must meet the following qualifications. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities.Education and Experience:High school diploma or GED preferred.Military experience is a plus.Language Skills:Ability to read and understand simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.Capable of writing simple correspondence and presenting information effectively in small groups.Mathematical Skills:Proficiency in basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.Reasoning Ability:Apply common sense to carry out detailed but straightforward instructions.Address and resolve typical problems that arise during track maintenance activities.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those required for successful performance of the job.
