Analog Designer

Company:Qualcomm Global Trading Pte. Ltd.

Job Area:Engineering Group, Engineering Group > ASICS Engineering

General Summary:

QCT's Power Management Team designs power management integrated circuits (PMICs) and power management units (PMUs) for a variety of smart phones, and other wireless consumer electronic devices. These designs include analog circuits and systems containing low drop out linear voltage regulators (LDOs), switching regulators (SMPS), chargers, battery charge controllers, crystal oscillators, precision references, comparators, audio amplifiers, precision current sources, data converters and high-speed data transceivers.

Apply your analog integrated circuit design expertise to QCT's development of power management integrated circuits for portable telecommunication, computing and consumer electronics applications. Depending on experience level, candidates are expected to lead or participate in the design of a variety

of analog circuit blocks while partnering with other QCT teams like Digital, RF and Mixed-Signal in a fast[1]paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Help define chip and block level specifications, implement circuit designs topologies and architectures

• Interface with test, product and applications engineers to successfully bring new products from initial concept through release to production

• Carrying out detailed analog and mixed-signal circuit analysis using both hand analysis and computer simulation at both the transistor & top level

• Writing internal and external documents and publications that describe the new circuit architectures and designs

• Gain an in-depth knowledge of process technologies

• Contribute in silicon characterization in the lab and analyze pre-production test data

• Work closely with layout team on critical blocks

• Schedule tasks and goals to complete designs on time that meet all specifications.

• Produce and contribute to product design support materials (data sheets, articles, app notes, develop design tools, etc.)

Required Qualifications

The candidate should have excellent knowledge of analog and mixed-signal electronics. The person should have a track record of initiative and innovation in their previous design experience.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and quick to adopt new technologies. Exceptional interpersonal, time management and communication skills are critical for working with engineering and product development groups. He/She must have the ability to multi-task, thus ensuring timely completion of several complex independent tasks.

• MS/PHD Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with expertise in analog and mixed-signal IC design

• Above 2 years of industry experience in transistor-level design of full-custom analog building blocks including but not limited to : amplifiers, comparators, mixers, ,oscillators, IO driver, and power supplies (DC/DC Converters).

• Keen knowledge of physical layout and thorough understanding of related issues.

• Experience in using Cadence custom IC design tools: analog circuit simulation (Spectre and Ultrasim), mixed-signal simulation (Analog Artist, AMS-Designer).

• Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.

• Support of analog and digital designers in developing Verilog-A, Verilog-AMS, and System Verilog behavioral models.

• Candidates who apply should have significant academic and/or industry experience designing full-custom Analog ICs with multiple voltage domains in BiCMOS, and CMOS technologies, as well significant experience with Cadence and other analog IC design tools. Strength in device physics, ultra low power design techniques and lab skills are also essential.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with specification, architecture, and floor planning for mixed-signal integrated circuits

• Familiarity to top-down mixed signal verification strategies for state-of-the-art SoCs, using metric driven methodologies

• Strong oral and written communication skills in English

• DC/DC Converter design experience

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field.
