About the Role

The Government Affair department is committed to innovation and persistence in identifying and realizing all available economic incentives.

 

The Analyst, Compliance & Economic Development works closely with the Senior Manager, Regulatory Compliance and Compliance Team to develop, evaluate, and implement positive economic development outcomes to further Magna’s strategic goals and business interests.  As a member of the Government Affairs Department, the Analyst, Compliance & Economic Development will collaborate and coordinate across all Magna functions, Groups, and Divisions to ensure all economic incentive projects are properly reported and are compliant with all aspects of Magna’s Group, Division and Joint-Venture economic incentive and government contracts.
 

Your Responsibilities Review government incentive opportunities and, in coordination with relevant Magna corporate, group, and division personnel, develop and implement strategies and tactics to secure incentives Manage communications and respond to inquiries from government entities regarding incentive opportunities and ensure compliance with relevant laws  Ensure economic incentive projects remain compliant with relevant contractual obligations Prepare offer summaries of government incentive opportunities, review and summarize economic incentive agreements/contracts, provide project status updates, and ensure compliance with reporting deadlines  Update relevant incentive information in the Magna Government Affairs CRM database  Analyze and review government economic incentive activities to enhance and promote Magna’s strategic goals and business interests  Facilitate drafting of reports, including editing, prior to submission, to ensure all required documents are complete, compliant, well-organized, and professionally presented Develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external subject matter experts to determine Magna’s needs for overall growth and development plans Work cross-functionally with all Magna functions, Groups, and Divisions to gather information and understand all project parameters needed to support economic development discussions and negotiations Act as a point of contact for various internal and external partners and effectively use an internal escalation path for all inquires Research, analyze, and prepare data-focused reports, plans, and other materials, exercising independent judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness Gather and analyze economic incentive data to drive all Magna function, Group, and Division decisions for site selection and expansion efforts  Manage project budget and invoicing Work with the Government Affairs Team on any other assignments and/or reports, as requested. Lead various projects and perform other duties, as required Who we are looking for Bachelor’s degree or certificate program in paralegal studies or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities 3+ years of experience in economic incentives or other corporate compliance related discipline 1-3+ years of Compliance or Paralegal experience  Bilingual and fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English and Spanish  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to develop professional relationships with key internal stakeholders Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint  Strong flexibility  Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time   
  Your preferred qualifications Previous experience in a professional, fast pace corporate environment  Financial analysis and/or project management experience  Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills  Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely while displaying credibility and confidence Good judgment skills are critical and the ability to work independently, take initiative, and not be afraid to ask questions and seek answers when follow-up is required Proven ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Ability to identify and be responsive to changing priorities within the business  Demonstrate a positive attitude and a ‘can do’ approach to the position Ability to work autonomously Take responsibility for actions, outcomes, and deliverables What we offer
