Role / Department:
The Financial Analyst will engage in the annual Capital Planning/ CCAR process and various ad hoc requirements to be determined by CCAR Finance team and the Management group. The analyst will work closely and frequently within a team with partners based both in Manila and Chicago to support the Bank’s CCAR Finance Team and to ensure the goals of the business unit and of Northern Trust are met.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Engage in annual Capital Plan/ CCAR exercise which includes, but is not limited to, execution of projection methodologies, reporting of results, development and maintenance of internal controls,
- Develop and maintain design, assumptions, and performance of qualitative projection methodologies utilized for capital adequacy assessments
- Work closely with the Team Leader and the Manager in identifying process improvements to enhance the productivity and efficiency of the team
- Conduct User Acceptance Testing of technology enhancements, and developing End User Computing compliant documentation
- Create/Update desktop procedures, process narrative, flowchart and risk-control documentation for significant processes including appropriate consideration of key reports, control evidence and end-user computing
- Execute and document controls performed, and resolve control gaps or exceptions
- Ensure that timeliness and integrity of the CCAR PPNR process is maintained and proactively provide sound and valuable recommendations to stakeholders that would impact process integrity and efficiency
- Participate in other special projects and ad hoc requirements, as appropriate
Skills / Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate financial models, forecasts, results, deal with ambiguous topics
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to present relevant information to various stakeholders
- Highly flexible and adaptable to change with the ability to manage multiple deliverables concurrently
- Self-motivated and intellectually curious with the ability to build relationships across diverse teams
- Proficiency with Office 365 applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Access, OneDrive, and Teams, to efficiently perform analyses and communicate financial information to various stakeholders
- Knowledgeable in HFM & TM1/Cognos, and other similar systems used in financial reporting, planning and analysis
- Experience with business intelligence analytical tools required to interpret data, perform analyses and communicate financial information to various constituents. Knowledge and experience in Power BI reporting is a plus
- Ability to work effectively and build relationships in a geographically blended environment (North America and Manila, primarily)
- CPA a plus but not required. 3-6 years of related experience in Management Reporting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Project Analysis, Internal controls and other relevant functional areas which may cover Risk, General Accounting, Statutory Reporting and other Accounting and Finance-related disciplines.
- Good business acumen and an understanding of the financial services industry

5AM - 2PM, Mondays – Fridays (with flexibility on peak weeks and capital planning season)
