Job Summary:
Vail Resorts is searching for a driven Paralegal to join our Litigation, Labor & Employment team. As an integrated team, we serve to empower our strategic partners, including Mountain Operations, Human Resources, Compliance, and Health & Safety by providing impactful legal advice, impartial investigations, and collaborative leadership. The Paralegal role requires an enthusiastic, highly-detail-oriented, self-motivated, and agile problem solver, who can quickly learn new areas of the business and drive process improvements to successfully support the Team on a wide variety of matters. Job Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate files for litigation matters, agency complaints, and investigations. Gather, review, organize, index, and produce documents for subpoenas/record requests, including conducting email searches and other eDiscovery. Accurately track and manage service of process and matter deadlines. Draft, place, and administer legal holds. Help manage employment, commercial, and general liability litigation matters, including docketing, document collection, discovery, filing pleadings, preparing exhibits, and scheduling witness interviews, deposition, and trial arrangements. Provide support on legal counseling matters, including conducting legal research, drafting stakeholder communications, tracking deadlines, and gathering information. Support team projects and initiatives, implement process improvements, and create and present reports, updates, and data deliverables to support management resourcing decisions. Perform day-to-day legal operations tasks, including data tracking and reporting, knowledge management auditing, and other legal support functions. Working closely with the Mountain Resorts Counsel team to assist with any deadlines and deliverables as assigned. Other duties as necessary, including general administrative functions. Must maintain strict confidentiality.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university. Minimum 3+ years of litigation paralegal or similar project management experience. Proficiency with eDiscovery rules and litigation hold processes, including knowledge of computer operations, applications, database systems, and electronic data collections. Technology proficiency, including with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook), and the ability and desire to learn other systems such as Smartsheet. Proven ability to effectively organize and manage projects while keeping up with daily workload and fast-paced demands from multiple sources. Strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, and a service-oriented mindset. Ability to consistently work calmly under time-sensitive conditions, meet deadlines, juggle competing priorities, and successfully multi-task. Ability to succeed working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. A commitment to professional growth, exceptional service (clients, partners, and team), and fun.
Preferred Qualifications:
Paralegal degree or certificate. Experience at a top-tier law firm or within other high-level litigation department Experience with labor, employment, commercial, general liability, real estate and/or corporate governance laws and regulations. Experience working with and supporting public corporations, either as in-house or outside paralegal/project manager. Experience preparing for commercial or personal injury trials. Smartsheet competency with dashboarding experience.
The expected Total Compensation for this role is $65,000 - $75,000. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
