**What you’ll be doing**
CIBC Leveraged Finance consists of a team of professionals and support staff with expertise in senior and subordinated cash-flow lending to Canadian middle-market businesses. Established in 2006, the team has a three-pronged mandate: i) providing national coverage of private equity sponsors; ii) working on highly-structured, event-based transactions, often alongside CIBC Commercial Banking Relationship Managers; and iii) delivering mezzanine debt solutions to our clients nationally. Our goal is to be the best in the leveraged finance industry. Our focus is on providing our clients creative financing solutions, value-added ideas and industry leading quality service, by delivering the full suite of CIBC’s product offerings to clients.
As part of the Leveraged Finance team, you will support the Relationship Managers and underwriting Deal Teams nationally, while providing high quality client service to new and existing client relationships. You will participate in ongoing training and development sessions and receive ongoing coaching from Leveraged Finance team members with the goal of developing into a Leveraged Finance Associate within 24-36 months.

**How you'll succeed**
+ **Portfolio Management –** Support the annual review process. Review quarterly reporting packages, and work with Relationship Managers and clients to address any questions and maintain dashboard tracking. Review monthly reporting and work with Relationship Managers and clients to address any questions.
+ **Transaction Underwriting** – Assist originating Deal Teams by completing external research and analysis to help review and underwriting process, including industry research, public company comparable and precedent transaction analysis. Lead internal pricing and returns analysis. Assist Deal Teams in preparing client pitch decks and marketing presentations.
+ **Operations –** Lead marketing initiatives and develop marketing materials, including new deal announcements and deal tombstones. Manage and maintain the teams transaction database.
+ **Client Solutions –** Proactively assess your clients’ needs and propose solutions to meet those needs, including products and services offered by other groups within CIBC.
+ **Collaboration –** Work with other Leveraged Finance employees to perform comprehensive financial/non-financial analysis for credit proposals. Prepare draft recommendations on credit submissions, and assist in transaction due-diligence.
+ **Relationship Building** – Develop good relations with internal colleagues (within commercial banking, corporate finance, risk management, operations and cash management).
+ **Proactive Monitoring –** Maintain a proactive approach to continuous risk assessment and report observations.
+ **Business acumen** – Actively be involved with the different tasks within the team and build a strong understanding of Leveraged Finance products and overall industry. Continuous learning is key to success.
