About the Role
The Medical Underwriter is responsible for the daily operations of all New Business submission which includes among other data verification, follow-up, underwriting, policy issuance and statistic reporting. This position is operationally responsible for ensuring the day-to-day new business cases submitted are processed and underwritten within the guideline, standard and in timely manner.Roles and Responsibilities:
• To underwrite daily proposal submission cases on medical and financial standpoints using findings on medical examination and checked and assessed as per the New Business and Underwriting guidelines.
• To ensure cases are follow-up and follow-through with the service standard.
• To prepare daily statistic within the agreed timeline and ensure cases are managed within Delegation of Authority (DOA limit) for closure.
• To perform data entry and or amendments as and when required.
• To consult and to seek second opinion from the senior underwriters and or Group Underwriters for all medical cases for guidance and advise before making any decision.
• To conduct Training, Learning and SME knowledge sharing sessions to team members or other department in areas of expertise.
• Work closely with panel doctors, Salesforces on quality of submission and areas to be improved based on respective team.
• To manage & perform the risk & compliance screening
• To support and process AIA campaign as per terms and conditions throughout the year
• To liaise with other departments and/or divisions for operational processes
• To attend Underwriting BAU meetings, stakeholder meetings and any other meetings internally or externally.
• To participate and assist in New Business and Underwriting system enhancements and new product development
• To assist and contribute to enhancing operation efficiency with tasks/projects/campaigns
• To communicate related stakeholders (including customers, panels, vendors, co-workers, supervisors, and other stakeholders as required) via email, phone, and other methods.
• To undertake additional assignments, responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by team lead/supervisor in order to meet operational and/or other requirements.
Minimum Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree holder related to any medical course.
• Strong ability of understanding medical terminologies in analyzing and reviewing medical cases.
• Good team player with strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Able to handle conflicts and self-motivated in difficult situations with good customer service orientation.
• Displays high learning orientation, innovation, and motivation to achieve target goals.
• Knowledge in Insurance and Medical Underwriting is a plus
• Literacy in both English and Burmese, both verbal & written.
