General Summary
The Operations Expense Analyst is responsible for managing and analyzing financial data related to telecom expenses, including circuit and data center services. This role performs critical financial tasks such as variance analysis and forecasting to support accurate budgeting and financial planning. The analyst is responsible for reviewing and validating telecom bills, ensuring compliance with Master Service Agreements and contracts, resolving billing disputes, and maintaining accurate accruals and data records. Additionally, the analyst drives cost optimization initiatives, coordinates service order timelines with Network Operations, and upholds precise records to meet both operational and reporting requirements.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Conduct detailed variance analysis of telecom expenses, comparing actual costs to prior periods, budgets, and forecasts, and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.Work closely with Network Operations to monitor service orders, ensuring accurate accruals, forecasts, and alignment with expected service turn-up and deactivation dates.Review telecom bills for accuracy, verifying charges against Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and Service Orders to ensure compliance and eliminate errors.Resolve billing disputes by analyzing discrepancies, investigating issues, and implementing corrective actions.Collaborates with Network Operations to identify all outages eligible for SLA credits and submits claims to the appropriate carriers.Collaborates with regulatory and tax departments to resolve issues related to taxes and cost recovery fees, ensuring accurate entity selection for contracts and proper billing. Support initiatives to identify and realize cost-saving opportunities, streamline telecom expense management processes, and enhance operational efficiency.Facilitate the review and setup of new circuit agreements and amendments, ensuring all data is recorded accurately.Manage ongoing review and validation of circuit and data center data for completeness and accuracy, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed.Document and communicate monthly reconciling items, providing clear explanations to support audit and compliance activities.Prepare ad hoc reports to address team and management needs, including trend analysis and cost breakdowns.Work during regularly scheduled hours and adjust to unscheduled or extended hours as needed to meet customer or operational demands.Follow all company policies, standard operating procedures, and safety protocols while performing work activities to maintain compliance and safety.Take on additional duties as assigned, contributing to team goals and company objectives.Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and/or 3-5 years of accounting and telecom related experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Advanced Excel skills.Ability to lead variance analysis discussions with StakeholdersExcellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to analyze and define problems, prioritize workflow, multitask, meet deadlines, and remain flexible.Must be a self-starter.Must be able to demonstrate attention to accuracy on all duties and responsibilities.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Must be adaptable in a changing environment and willing to take on tasks outside of routine expectations.Must support and enforce Company policies and procedures.Disclaimer
