Analyst Data III, Trading

Overview

As a Data Analyst III at Fanatics Betting & Gaming, you will join our Trading team. The Trading Analyst III will play a critical role in driving the performance and strategic direction of the Trading Department. This position demands a highly analytical mindset, deep knowledge of sports betting, and the ability to work independently on complex, high-impact challenges. The analyst will be responsible for delivering high-quality, data-driven insights and solutions aimed at improving pricing accuracy, strengthening risk management, increasing operational efficiency, and deepening understanding of performance drivers.

The ideal candidate will possess a natural curiosity, consistently probing beyond surface-level trends to uncover root causes and explain the effects of variance and volatility on outcomes. They will demonstrate the confidence to challenge assumptions constructively and ensure decisions are based on sound logic. Strong collaboration with stakeholders is essential to fully understand problem statements and deliver effective, targeted solutions—rather than simply meeting baseline requirements. Success in this role hinges on a strong sense of ownership, comfort with ambiguity, and a collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

Lead complex analytical projects that support pricing, margin optimization, and risk management decisions. Build, manage, and maintain reports and dashboards that promote self-service, consistency, and accuracy. Develop and maintain robust data models that enable scalable, detailed, and reusable analysis. Cultivate strong cross-functional relationships with Product, Finance, Commercial, and Data teams. Identify performance issues and opportunities, and drive improvements independently and in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. Translate analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences. Mentor junior analysts and support broader Trading team efforts to enhance data literacy. Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes, tooling, and team workflows. Help shape and communicate the narrative around Trading performance.
 

Experience and Skills

3–5 years of experience in a trading, analytics, or quantitative role, ideally within the betting and gaming industry or a comparably fast paced, data rich environment. Advanced SQL skills are essential as this will be the key language used within this role.  This includes the experience of: CTEs & Sub Queries Window Functions Data Transformation Functions Aggregations & Groupings Data Quality & Integrity Optimization & Debugging  Joins and Set Logic

 

Experience with Python, R, or similar tools is a plus. What is more important is knowing what analytical techniques are the most appropriate to use based on the problem statement Data visualization and storytelling experience using tools such as Tableau, Looker, Power BI. They should have experience in not only creating useful visualisations but dashboards that provide users with an experience which is engaging, detailed, consistent, accurate and efficient. Hands on experience building and maintaining data models in tools like DBT, Databricks, or other modern data stack components. Comfortable with version control systems (Git), collaborative development environments, and working within modern analytics workflows (e.g., notebooks, repositories and branches. Deep understanding of trading fundamentals, including pricing, margin, and risk models. Proven ability to independently solve complex problems, applying sound analytical approaches aligned with business goals.
Experience balancing and delivering against multiple priorities in high-pressure environments. Excellent communication skills, with a track record of influencing decisions through insight and data storytelling. Collaborative and proactive team player with a growth mindset and high standards for clear and diligent analysis. Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or Computer Science. Working with semi-structured data ie in JSON format. Experience or interest in the sports/betting industry are a bonus but not required.

*Salary Range:  $100,000-$198,000 per year, (actual salary will be determined in part by a successful candidate’s geographic location)In addition to the base, bonus, and equity, full-time employees are eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, paid time off, and other benefits like GymPass, Pet Insurance, Family Care Benefits, and more.
