Functional Description
The Enterprise Risk Management and Risk Oversight (ERMRO) organization within Global Risk and Compliance (GRC) is responsible for identifying and managing risk across all business units, functions, processes and geographies at American Express.
The Analyst – Risk Oversight and Analytics will be part of the GRC organization. The incumbent will help support risk analytics and will be a part of world class team of analytical professionals to support and analyze financial and regulatory reporting risk to AXP. The team will assist in independent oversight of different reporting processes as well as non-model tools used in regulatory and financial reporting processes.
The incumbent will be responsible for helping operationalize an independent risk management framework to provide oversight on important regulatory reporting processes. Team will be responsible to create an oversight framework to independently validate accuracy and consistency, improving overall reporting processes inclusive of intake, analysis, and review of financial and regulatory reporting interpretative items. The role will include providing effective challenge to US regulatory reporting teams who are responsible for managing and delivering key financial and regulatory reporting filings for American Express.
We are seeking an experienced analyst to be a part of this exciting journey.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Create, support, and manage the execution of the second line oversight framework for effective challenge to front line processes and activities.
· Independently validate the accuracy, interpretation and documentation of reporting instructions to ensure reporting requirements are met and appropriate data elements are captured and adhered to.
· Perform specialized risk reviews and ongoing monitoring activities on important financial reports and regulatory reports required by FRB and OCC, including FR Y-9C, Call Report (FFIEC 031), FR2052a, and FR Y-14 etc.
· Support the creation of Risk Appetite metrics for the key reporting processes in AXP; Track and monitor risk metrics to provide regular updates to Senior Management, the Board and regulators on an ongoing basis.
· Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders and partners to ensure regulatory compliance and manage regulatory relationship and exams for safety & soundness related regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
· 0-2 years of experience in regulatory reporting risk management or a similar role.
· Post Graduate degree, CPA/Chartered Accountant, or similar qualification, with an in-depth knowledge of U.S. Regulatory and US GAAP requirements is must
· Prior experience in assisting with preparation of Regulatory Reports required by FRB and OCC, including FR Y-9C, Call Report (FFIEC 031), FR2052a, and FR Y-14 is strongly preferred.
· Prior Regulatory/Federal Reserve/SEC/External Reporting and banking/financial services experience is strongly preferred.
· Strong analytical skills, including a proving ability to translate complex and disparate information to develop a comprehensive and cohesive conclusion for colleagues, business partners, and senior leaders.
· Ability to work independently and across a matrix organization partnering with business partners, functional owners, capabilities, technology teams and external vendors.
· Rigorous and analytical approach to problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritization collaboration across teams/geographies.
· Proactive in identifying issues, delivering and escalating key findings, and advising on recommended solutions to correct issues or mitigate risks.
This role is required to be on-site 3 days/week.
