GENERAL FUNCTION

As EHS coordinator you will be responsible for the implementation of strategic EHS programs for Riverside Opticalab Group, a division of EssilorLuxottica Canada Inc. You will be based in the Ottawa Laboratory and will report to the Senior Lab Manager. 

You will contribute to the maintenance of a safe work environment by managing occupational health and safety processes, conducting training and effectively using a range of tools and processes to drive compliance with both regulations and corporate requirements.

You will bring expertise to achieve compliance of the sites under her/his responsibility with applicable environmental regulations. You will also evaluate the available solutions to reduce the company environmental footprint and coordinate the implementation of the selected solutions.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Act as the main contact point for any EHS question or need of support for all sites of Riverside Opticalab Group Liaise between the sites and EHS national department regarding EHS issues, programs and solutions Perform site EHS inspections to evaluate both current and future compliance with legal and corporate requirements Perform a complete EHS evaluation of each new process, layout, and machine before their implementation. Deploy management of change evaluations Define, support and follow up EHS action plans in collaboration with on-site teams Prepare all documentation and reports requested by legal entities in the required format Manage and consolidate the EHS indicators of the sites and fill out the company EHS databases Ensure accuracy and integrity of EHS data and information reporting Regulatory watch at municipal and provincial levels. Development of a plan of actions to ensure compliance with future regulations Develop and deploy EHS documentation in terms of creation, control, communication, compliance and maintenance Support leaders during an accident investigation process including root cause analysis, trending analysis, resolution and documentation Develop, organize and provide EHS training. When necessary, automate and computerize the training for the organization Support and lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee

QUALIFICATIONS 

College/University Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent 3 to 5 years’ experience as a professional EHS in an industrial environment or a suitable combination of education and experience in an industrial environment Knowledge of EHS regulations Experience in environmental footprint reductions projects Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ease in communicating at all organizational levels Strong analytical skills with high power of observation and attention to detail Work organization abilities and strong team spirit Able to travel (10-20% of time) English written and spoken mandatory, French is an asset
