Overview The position assists the QA Manager in assessing Food Safety and Quality related to all aspects of the facility and provides quality and food safety leadership to QA Lab Analysts. They serve as a liaison in the development and preservation of the plant’s food safety culture. The Sr. Analyst will participate/lead initiatives to improve products and processes related to quality, food safety and consistency. They will audit the facility and food quality system and assist with external audit preparation and related activities. This person will act as acting QA Manager in their absence. Responsibilities Assists in the training, and development of QA analysts Assists in resolving non-conformance issues/quality problems at plant while working with plant management team to develop corrective action plans and communicates plans to QA management Lead or supervise one or more Marzetti Operational Excellence improvement projects Serves as a key technical resource in plant and as a liaison between corporate R&D, Tech Services and plant operations Advises plant on quality and food safety implications of changes in product, processing, or facility design. Reviews/Submits monthly customer reports (i.e. KPI’s, Quality Scorecards) Disposition product/ingredients that are on hold Review all completed QA paperwork, and effectively communicate needed corrections to analyst Conduct GEMBA and monthly GMP inspections, compile CAPAs and drive completion with other departments Assist in creating, improving and implementing Food Safety and Quality pre-requisite programs Ensure programs align with GFSI (BRC) standards, including conducting internal audits and completing related CAPAs Serves as acting QA Manager in the event of an absence Performs other duties / responsibilities as assigned by QA Quality Manager. Key contacts with: Both internal and external QA associates, production, shipping and receiving, customer service, and some and customer supplier contact Qualifications 3-5 years quality assurance/control management/supervision experience in a manufacturing environment required - food industry preferred. GFSI audit experience, BRC preferred PCQI certification preferred SAP Experience preferred BS/BA degree in food science or related field preferred. Demonstrated ability to appropriately work with confidential information and situations and manage correspondence. Strong understanding of effective manufacturing operations regarding quality assurance, preferably food-related industry. Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and verbal formats. High level of organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability. Strong interpersonal, technical and presentation skills. Must be a team player with good internal & external customer service skills. Working Conditions/Environment Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, lift, reach, and bend while moving about the facility. Must be able to stand up to an 10-hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts, and equipment. Earplugs hairnets and slip resistant shoes are required per company and plant GMP and Safety requirements.
