How will you make an impact in this role?

The Assistant Manager, Operation and Process Excellence - Project Management Office is a dynamic role providing the incumbent with the opportunity to support the implementation of key initiatives that align with Amex Canada's 3-year strategic plan.

The role requires supporting proper management of Escalated Event Case Management Protocol for the Canadian market, working across all LOBs, with senior level stakeholders at the local and international level. The role requires you to work very closely with key stakeholders across the Blue Box to gather project requirements, ensure alignment, establish effective controls and drive the flawless implementation of initiatives.

An opportunity to partner with product teams such as Consumer Cards (Lending, Charge, Proprietary and Co-Brand products), Global Corporate Payments and Global Merchant Services for end-to-end project management and execution. Collaborate across broader American Express teams (Technologies, Legal, Compliance, Operational Risk, Operations, etc.) to deliver enhanced efficiencies, processes, services and Cardmember experiences for our various product portfolios. Contributing to driving the digital agenda through capability development and implementation. Actively facilitating excellence in project management, monitoring project results, and developing key recommendations for continuous improvement Supporting day-to-day internal and external partner relationships. Showcase your superior communication, influencing and collaboration skills with internal and external partners.    Grow and develop both personally and professionally through formal development planning and mentorship sessions. 

Responsibilities will include:

Support in the planning, execution, and monitoring of project activities to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Prepare and present regular status reports to stakeholders, highlighting project progress, issues, and resource allocation. Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, schedules, and meeting minutes. Identify and recommend improvements to project management processes and methodologies. Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle. Help identify, assess, and monitor project risks, proposing mitigation strategies as needed. Create engaging presentations to effectively communicate project updates, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders and senior leadership. Analyze and track operational trends to identify areas for process improvements. Assist in managing Escalated Event Case Management Protocol, ensuring timely resolution across all business lines. Contribute to process optimization efforts by identifying inefficiencies and suggesting improvements. Assist in the development of reporting tools to monitor progress and performance of key initiatives.

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Project Management, or related field. 2+ years of proven experience in delivering Project Management outcomes.  Proven ability to take initiative and champion a project from conception through to implementation and evaluation.  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly. Proven organizational abilities, with a track record of setting priorities and managing tasks to drive results. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build relationships with diverse stakeholders. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Visio). Experience managing Operational Risk Events is a plus. Strong understanding of Legal & Regulatory environment is a plus.
