Analytical Chemist
Description: Actalent is seeking a talented analytical chemist to join its growing development team. This role will focus on developing, qualifying, and conducting assays for characterizing and processing complex mixtures of high-value metals, assessing chemical synthesis reactions, quantifying and characterizing protein quality and amount. The successful candidate will have strong experience in chromatography-based separations, analytical methods for metal characterization, design of experiment methodology, and, importantly, analytical method qualification or validation. The individual will join a group of collaborative scientists with diverse skill sets and should have strong communication skills, critical thinking skills, and a rigorous approach to science. Responsibilities: ● This role will report directly to CPO. ● Act as the primary operator of ICP-OES instrument. This includes method development, method qualification, sample and standard preparation, instrument use, data analysis. ● Implement customary quality control best practices for each instrument, such as control charts for key process parameters. ● Implement best practices appropriate for each analytical instrument for routine and preventative maintenance to maximize instrument up-time. ● Implement workflows to maximize the available automation to reduce human error and to maximize instrument up-time. For example, leveraging autosamplers and instrument specific control software to enable unsupervised routine analyses and automated data analyses. ● Be familiar with and operate a wide variety of analytical instruments for chemical and biochemical analysis, including but not limited to various chromatographic separation (e.g., ion exchange, anion exchange, SEC, reverse phase, etc.) ● Assist in preprocessing for a variety of minerals and chemical mixtures. ● Assist with performing high-throughput assays using liquid handling robots. ● Collaborate with internal science and engineering teams to deliver project goals. ● Analyze, organize, and present data to internal and external groups. ● Adhere to best practices and controls to ensure a safe laboratory and working environment. ● Work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment, both independently and within a team. -will work with an automated liquid handler called Hamilton -protein based variants Skills: Hplc, Chemistry, Analytical chemistry, Laboratory, Wet chemistry, Development, Method validation, method development, analytical method qualification, ICP-OES, protein, Master's degree or Bachelor's degree, automated liquid handler Top Skills Details: Hplc,Chemistry,Analytical chemistry,Laboratory,Wet chemistry,Development,Method validation,method development,analytical method qualification,ICP-OES,protein Additional Skills & Qualifications: Required qualifications: ● Bachelors or Masters in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or related fields with 2-5 years of industry experience (pharma industry preferred). ● Significant experience developing methods, operating, and qualifying ICP-OES instrumentation and methods. ● Significant experience developing, qualifying, performing and troubleshooting chromatography methods. ● Experience with a wide variety of analytical techniques and adept at learning new instrumentation and assays. ● Demonstrated experience with analytical methods development, qualification, and validation. ● Deep knowledge of design of experiment principles and statistical analysis. ● Adept at designing and executing complex experiments in a safe, independent manner. ● Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work within and among different teams. ● Strong organizational skills.
