The Anatomical Pathology Technician primary responsibility is preparing samples for Pathologist review. This entails technical preparations of slides for performing Immuno Histo Chemical (IHC) staining. This position also assist Histologist, Pathology assistants and Cytologists with their duties. This position helps assemble cases, preforms date entry, registers patient samples, performs needed follow up on problem specimens and performs most of the supply ordering and inventory for anatomical pathology. This postion prepares quality control specimens for review and performs other duties as asigned.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Familiarity with anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and computer operations. Over 7 years experience in anatomical pathology lab required.
EDUCATION: BA/BS in Science related field required. Prefer college course work in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and laboratory experience.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: None.
Aptitudes: Demonstration of ability to perform duties with exceptional accuracy and efficiency. Demonstrated ability to plan and use time wisely. Ability to cope with a high work volume requiring rapid production of accurate and satisfactory specimens for microscopic evaluation. Ability to work closely with others with flexibility. Ability to represent the laboratory and hospital in a positive and professional manner.
