Android Software Engineer (d/f/m)

What you’ll do ​& Who you are

In Berlin we are looking for an Android Software Engineer (d/f/m) within our Consumer Orientation and Specification team!

The mission of our team is to create a holistic and seamless search experience for our users. To achieve this we work in an agile manner, improving the search experience on mobile.de, native and Web applications.

The role:

As a part of a cross-platform team you will develop the Android applications using Kotlin and will be reporting to the Engineering Manager of the team.

Oversee the entire release cycle from specification to running in production.

Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality and ensure adherence to coding standards; implement unit tests and automated testing strategies to verify the correctness and reliability of the application.

Collaborate with the product management, UX, business, backend developers, and your native app peers.

Together with other Android engineers, you ensure the design aligns with our technical vision, strategies, and create scalable application architecture and patterns.

Resolve performance issues to enhance the efficiency and user experience of Android applications.

Create technical documentation, including architecture, API integration, and code documentation.

Dedicate up to 30% of working time to maintain the code quality and contribute to programs related to platform improvements.

Stay informed with the latest industry trends, Android platform updates, and new technologies; recommend and implement improvements.

Your skill profile:

At least 2 years of experience developing Android applications.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related professional experience.

Proficiency in programming with Kotlin for Android app development.

Experience with Android application architecture patterns and design principles.

Experience with Android development tools, libraries, and third-party APIs.

Knowledge of version control systems (e.g. Git), Jira, and CI/CD pipelines.

Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Experience with client/server architectures using HTTP, REST, and JSON.

Solid debugging skills.

Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners.
