Andrologist (Part-Time for New Braunfels/San Antonio)

Our purpose is to bring the joy of parenthood through innovative science, but it’s difficult to summarize Ovation® Fertility in just one sentence. Yes, we’re a nationwide network of IVF and genetics laboratories that have been using collaborative medicine to make parenthood possible since 2015.

As a member of the Ovation Fertility in-vitro fertilization laboratory team, the incumbent's primary focus is to participate in the daily operation of the andrology laboratories. This position includes 'hands-on' involvement in clinical andrology laboratory work as directed by the Laboratory leadership. This position requires a focus on patient service, maintenance of the highest technical standards and provision of the services and resources necessary to support Ovation Fertility.

We have an immediate opening for a part-time Andrologist to join our team. The schedule is working Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (hours for Monday/Wednesday are 7:30am-10:00am, and hours for Thursday are 7:30am- 1:30pm) with 2 alternate weekends per month (Saturdays). This position is required to float between the New Braunfels and San Antonio locations.

How You'll Contribute:

Undertake andrology laboratory procedures as directed Attention to detail with an awareness and understanding of the sensitive and confidential nature of ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) treatment Comply with HIPAA privacy regulations Complete competency in latest technologies including, but not limited to: Semen analysis, anti-sperm antibody testing, sperm preparation for IUI, sperm cryopreservation, vitality staining, semen processing Demonstrate advanced knowledge of reproductive biology including the male and female reproductive system Demonstrate excellent clinical skills and be able to lead and work in a team environment Must be comfortable with the physical handling of semen including hazardous specimens Management of aseptic techniques Must be competent in the correct assessment and grading of sperm count, motility and morphology Perform clerical tasks diligently and follow established protocols and laboratory guidelines Meticulous data entry into computer databases and software programs Ability to maintain detailed and accurate patient logs and laboratory reports Communicate detailed information to patients, staff and regulatory bodies Desire to assist in data collection and management for clinical research projects Assists in research projects, under the direction of the Laboratory Director, which are publishable Provides support for manuscript preparation and editing Provides support for CAP inspection preparedness and inspections Clear, professional and timely communication with staff, physicians and patients Participate in Continuing Technical Improvement exercises Maintain technical proficiency in routine laboratory procedures Assist in the preparation of routine and ad hoc analyses of data relating to performance of the laboratory and individual technologists and to specific research projects Delivers patient/customer services seamlessly across system boundaries Communicates clearly and listens carefully to ensure understanding Analyzes problems from the patient/family point of view Learns the individual patient/customer need(s) and does the best possible job of satisfying those needs using the best possible solutions that are responsive to the need(s) Handles stressful patient/customer situations appropriately Keeps the patient/customer informed of what is being done to help especially for complicated problems Makes every attempt to meet patient/customer and family special needs Modifies interactions to accommodate the diverse needs of our patient/customers and family Ensures patient/customer and family confidentiality, respect, safety and security Others duties as assigned

What You'll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a biological science 1+ years of experience in a Laboratory setting Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and patients Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database and email applications Excellent organizational skills Ability to work under pressure and within deadlines Excellent communication skills Ability to work as part of a team Good research skills Advanced computer skills are required Flexibility and willingness to learn at all times Excellent multi-tasking abilities Ability to work some weekends
