Anesthesia Tech

Job Summary

Provide optimum assistance to the Anesthesiologist/Anesthetist through proper maintenance of equipment and supply of materials and anesthetics.

 

Responsibilities

• Properly maintain, repair, and set up all anesthesia equipment and clean small equipment - laryngoscopes, etc.

• Order supplies, noncontrolled drugs, and materials for the department in a timely manner. Maintain drug par levels and stock drugs in anesthesia carts.

• Perform minor maintenance and repair on equipment.

• Pick up and deliver departmental mail as needed.

• Assist Anesthesia personnel in transporting equipment and patients.

• Prepare charts for scheduled surgeries.

• Pick up add-on schedules and schedule changes.

• Perform daily cleaning of assigned anesthesia machines and bi-monthly deep cleaning.

• Defrosts drug refrigerator.

• Check in blood for all surgeries as required.

• Serve on the call list for the area's Disaster Plan.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Competency Statement
