Position Summary:

 

Reporting to the Anesthesia Technician Supervisor and working under the direction of an anesthesia, the Non-Certified Anesthesia Technician is a vital member of the anesthesia care team providing 24/7 coverage.  The Non-Certified Anesthesia Technician supports anesthesia care in the main operating room, CVOR, Labor and Delivery operating room, Specialty Procedures, Interventional Radiology, Electrophysiology Lab, Cath Lab and MRI.  Orientation to this position is no less than eight (8) weeks.

 

Responsibilities:

 
Provides support for routine surgical cases by assisting in the application, acquisition, preparation and troubleshooting of various types of equipment required for the delivery of anesthesia care
Performs first level maintenance on anesthesia equipment
Takes direction during rapid and quickly changing circumstances in the patient care environment
Demonstrates knowledge, practically applies and participates in critical event management during patient care (i.e. machine malfunction)
Maintains and organizes the anesthesia environment, equipment and supplies to facilitate department functions and surgery schedules
Assists with transport of patients and laboratory specimens as necessary
Performs other related duties as assigned
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
 

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:

 
High school graduate or equivalent preferred
Understands medical and surgical terminology
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or other relevant healthcare provider experience
Prior work experience as an Anesthesia Technician preferred
BLS Required.  Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation.
Completion of 10 CEU through ASATT every two years

Must be able to lift and move up to 75 lbs
Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.
Must be able to assist in patient transfer
Must be able to maintain a standing position 
Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height
Typical equipment used in a clinical job

Your benefits may change if your position status (FT, PT, or PRN) has been updated. Please talk with your Recruiter if you have any questions about your status and benefits. Those with a primary position as a PRN will receive per diem pay. Per Diem rates are tiered depending on number of years of employment. If you are moving into a new role, HR will provide you with a new job description to review and sign. HR will also request documentation for any new requirements for your position, including experience, education, licensure, certification, etc. If EPIC training is required for your role and you have not completed the required module for your position, please complete an EPIC Fast Track Attestation at https://kh.org/epicfasttrack If an advanced background check with Health and Welfare is required for your role and you have not completed one previously, you will need to complete the process before your transfer date.
