Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. Maintains a professional work environment and willingly works with the anesthesiologist(s) and CRNA(s) to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of all anesthetic requirements, ensuring that the operating room environment and anesthetizing location is safe and that all equipment functions properly to maximize patient safety. Ensures the availability and preparedness of anesthesia machine, supplies, equipment and medications needed to support efficient care of the patient, along with a working knowledge of each device. Responsible for having supplies and equipment necessary for the anesthetic procedure, along with proper cleaning of such items as needed. Maintains daily records within the department including refrigerator temperatures, cart locks, daily logs Assists anesthesia provider with set up of invasive monitoring lines and other clinical functions in operating rooms. Prepares anesthesia related equipment and supplies for readiness of all cases including cleaning, set up and decontamination. Determines inventory supplies and PAR levels, orders all necessary supplies and organizes them for safe anesthesia delivery. Assists anesthesia providers with emergency airway management, regional positioning, and other related clinical functions. Maintains and provides preventative maintenance on anesthesia equipment under supervision or notifies the appropriate hospital personnel for repair and maintenance. Demonstrates to ability to serve as communication liaison between the anesthesia team, patient, physician, and hospital personnel. Demonstrates the ability to function effectively in an urgent or emergent situation and in an atmosphere of stress and tension while simultaneously executing immediate directives. Fosters an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion, and respect for all patients, families, colleagues and visitors. Contributes to the overall performance of the department through setting goals, arranges a time schedule to complete workload or special assignments based on needs of hospital, does not abuse sick time while providing proper advance notification when possible for absence. Contributes to the continued professional growth and success of the department through participation in performance improvement studies, participation in educational opportunities and attendance to required meetings and training. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Zero to less than one year of related work experience required Extensive knowledge concerning anesthesia equipment Knowledge of sterile techniques and proper maintenance and processing of equipment and instrumentation
