As an Animal Attendant, you will primarily be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the Equine and Nemo Farm Animal Hospital which consists of multiple Diagnostic and Therapeutic Rooms, Equine Wards, Intensive Care Unit, Farm Animal Ward, Isolation, and Operating Rooms. This will include, but will not be limited to, cleaning, washing, and disinfecting animal stalls and all areas of the ENFAH such as where animals are housed, walked, and treated; where surgery is performed, and animals are induced and recovered from general anesthesia.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
At least six months experience, including direct working experience with large animals (horses, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, alpacas, and/or llamas, etc).
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must have knowledge of or have the capacity to learn basic infection control practices.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, which includes, but are not limited to, stressful situations, prolonged standing, and kneeling, assisting with patients which may exceed 50 pounds.
Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment, which includes professional interactions with students, veterinary technicians, clinicians, and clients, while using good judgment in setting priorities
Rabies vaccinations will be required, and the cost will be covered by the department.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a hospital environment is preferred.
Experience milking cows

This is an onsite position located in Ithaca, NY.

The primary schedule for the first position will be Monday 10:00am-8:30pm and Wednesday - Friday 4:00am-2:30pm
The primary schedule for the second position will be Thursday 10:00am-8:30pm and Friday - Sunday 4:00am-2:30pm
The Cornell University Hospital for Animals provides 24-hour care for pets 365 days of the year. The schedule for this position requires flexibility to ensure that adequate patient care and service needs are provided without interruption or exception. Schedule may shift and require/include weekend, holiday, and night shifts.
