Essential Job Duties:

Facility maintenance, repairs, and gardening Butterfly nectar flower horticultural knowledgeButterfly releasing and record keepingProcessing shipments independently with all record keepingFeeding butterflies and other exhibit animalsEnvironmental maintenance of exhibit Butterfly containment, all aspectsPest control: monitor and treatsPublic interactions, including tours and responses to guestsSafety InspectionsSpecimen preparation for reference collectionsOperation of exhibit when Entomologist not presentKnowledge of both tropical and native butterfly species Knowledge of butterfly house regulation by all government agencies Plans, conducts, and writes practical or other research projects  Assist other Land Animal departments in daily husbandry 

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have one year work experience as Butterfly Keeper or equivalent work experience preferredMust be in excellent physical condition and possess the mental capacities to perform the essential job dutiesMust be able to lift equipment up to 50 lbs. Must possess the physical dexterity to hold and maneuver equipment.Must be able to walk and move quickly between different areas.Must not be afraid of heights.Good public speaking ability.Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather including humidityMust possess the physical and mental abilities to work around a large variety of exotic animalsMust be available to work weekends and holidays.Must possess a valid driver’s license.
