Running Aces will conduct live racing on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. There are 55 days of live racing scheduled. First post is at 6 pm, Sundays and Thursdays, 7pm, Tuesdays. Work hours are variable and flexible-typically between 4pm and 11pm. This position will monitor and enforce compliance with State of Minnesota statutes and rules relating to the detention, post-race testing, handling of horses after a race, and to monitor and enforce safety regulations in the detention barn. The position will work closely with Racing Commission detention barn veterinary staff, MRC Team, and serve in a lead position over the detention barn technicians on daily basis during the period of live horse racing. **Minimum Qualifications** + Knowledge and experience in working with performance horses + Ability to handle a horse in an emergency. + Experience in the collection of equine blood and urine specimens including chain of custody procedures + Basic knowledge of MRC horse racing laws, rules, policies, and procedures + Must be able to act in an authoritative yet objective manner **Preferred Qualifications** + Certified Veterinary Technician or in pursuit of a degree in an area of veterinary medicine or animal sciences + Knowledge and experience in enforcing compliance laws, regulations, and rules + Experience working with or for the Minnesota Racing Commission **Physical Requirements** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
