Job Description

This position supports the surgical team and involves a variety of tasks related to the care and maintenance of experimental animals used in research and development studies.

ResponsibilitiesCare for the animals used in research and development studies.Perform duties related to the maintenance of experimental animals, including feeding, caring for animals, cleaning cages, and maintaining inventory and animal identification records.Clean and sanitize the animal facility and equipment.Ensure biosafety and biosecurity of the animals.Partner with preclinical investigators to assist and support veterinarians with surgery, dosing, postoperative care, and monitoring of animal studies.Provide technical support in areas such as production operations, maintenance, safety testing, process improvement, or product development.Use schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment, or systems.Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data using established formulae and procedures and perform detailed mathematical calculations.Suggest and/or make improvements to optimize work processes.Run minor projects including performing tests, interpreting data, and developing reports.Perform technical activities requiring considerable judgment and may have ownership of minor projects.Independently propose solutions to problems for supervisor review.Communicate typically with internal contacts, obtaining and providing technical information on matters of moderate importance to the job area.Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within the job area.Essential SkillsAnimal researchPreclinical expertiseAnimal handlingVeterinary scienceVeterinary technician skillsAnimal husbandryAnesthesiaAdditional Skills & Qualifications3+ years of surgical experienceCertified Veterinary Technician1+ years of previous anesthesia experiencePay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.50/hr.
