The role involves ensuring the health, safety, and comfort of animals, following regulatory standards, and performing various routine tasks under supervision. **Contract** **Pay: $23/hr** **Location: De Soto, Kansas** **Qualifications:** + High School Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Life Sciences (or equivalent experience). + 0-1+ years of related experience, ideally with large food animals (cattle, swine, etc.). Small animal experience is less relevant. + Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. + Experience with farm work, tractors, or large animal handling is a plus. + Must be comfortable with hands-on work, willing to learn, and able to work effectively in a team. + Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed. **Responsibilities:** + **Animal Care:** Clean, feed, water, and ensure the well-being of animals, including large food animals. + **Health Monitoring:** Perform routine health checks, report any issues, and collect data as per study protocols. + **Data & Sample Collection:** Record observations and collect biological samples in compliance with GLPs and SOPs. + **Environment Monitoring:** Track and report environmental conditions for optimal animal care. + **Equipment & Supplies:** Maintain lab cleanliness, stock supplies, and dispose of waste properly. + **Team Collaboration:** Work with a team across species to support daily research needs. **Additional Notes:** + Large food animal experience is strongly preferred; small animal experience may not fully apply. + A willingness to get hands-on and work in a team is essential. + Must be flexible with work hours, including weekends and holidays.
