Animal Technician Opportunity!

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Animal Technician with a strong experience in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, or related fields. The ideal candidate will have over 2 years of experience working in animal labs with rats and possess both in vivo and in vitro experience. Proficiency in RT PCR and wet lab techniques is required.

ResponsibilitiesConduct experiments both in vivo and in vitro.Maintain a variety of animal, procedural, and study records.Perform necessary PCR for animal colony management.Assist in breeding and maintaining rodent colonies.Perform various injection and blood draw procedures.Provide enrichment to the rodent colony.Perform basic scientific calculations such as weight volume concentration and molar concentration.Essential SkillsBS in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, or related fields.2 or more years of experience working in animal labs with rats.Experience in in vivo and in vitro experiments.Proficiency in RT PCR and wet lab techniques.Experience handling mice and rats.Experience with mouse and/or animal colony management.Experience with genotyping samples (tails, ears, etc.).Experience performing mouse surgeries.Additional Skills & QualificationsFamiliarity with protocol submissions under IRB.Experience with molecular cloning.Experience handling ES cells and transgenic mice, including analyzing and quantitating data from experiments.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to interact with individuals in productive ways to enhance organizational goals and core vision.Maintain a professional attitude towards all lab members and outside collaborators.Work Environment

The position is based in a research lab located in Brooklyn. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $44.00
