Animator / Motion Designer
The team: 

Datadog’s video team creates engaging content about our observability products and technologies through videos and animations. We are a close-knit group of editors, producers, and animators who strive to create content with a high production value that is informative, accurate, and meaningful. As part of Datadog’s Marketing department, we work collaboratively within our team — but also collaborate regularly with other teams across the company such as Product, Engineering, and Writing teams. Our videos help drive and maintain Datadog’s position as a leader in observability, and we are always expanding and up-leveling our creative efforts to match.

The opportunity: 

We’re looking for a motion designer and animator with top-notch graphic design and After Effects skills to join our in-house motion graphics team. We’d love candidates who are confident with visualizing complex ideas or eager to learn about tech. You’ll be creating intricate visualizations that help explain complex concepts, and creating and editing screen recordings of our product to present it in the best light. As a motion designer on Datadog’s in-house video team, you will get to work on all kinds of projects from social media to giant screens in real life. The success your skills bring will help us better connect with our customers, show off our powerful platform, and drive the business forward.

The Datadog video team consists of video producers and motion graphics designers who create all the video content for our website, social media channels, and events. We produce, film, storyboard, edit, design, and animate a wide variety of projects such as customer videos, product explainers, how-to videos, and video ads.

Here’s a look at some of the work our team creates.

You will: Design and animate vector illustrations, infographics, type, and other graphic elements Enhance live-action videos with intricate and engaging animations that help drive the narrative Collaborate with designers, editors, and product managers on video projects  Explore creative directions for new projects and see them through from the storyboard stage to final animation Requirements: 2+ years of professional motion graphics experience BFA in design/motion graphics or related discipline A diverse portfolio showcasing your professional animation work Ability to grasp complex topics and visualize them with easy-to-understand designs. Well versed with typographic and writing rules. Strong experience developing project briefs and scripts into style frames, storyboards, and video boards Adhere to industry standard motion design workflows, video formats, codecs, and frame rates Expert in Adobe After Effects and Illustrator Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Ability to follow brand design guidelines and create new design iterations Confident and accurate communication skills, able to independently work with team members and project stakeholders Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Bonus points: Video editing skills and familiarity with Adobe Premiere Understanding of the tech industry and engineering tools, prior experience working at a tech/startup company  Basic understanding of cloud and/or SaaS technologies and ability to pick up new abstract concepts quickly
