Position Overview Maryvale Middle School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Assistant Principal to join our leadership team. The Assistant Principal will play a critical role in supporting the school's mission to provide a safe, inclusive, and academically rigorous environment for all students. This position requires a passionate leader who can foster a culture of respect, trust, and collaboration among staff, students, and parents. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and a proven ability to positively relate to and interact with our diverse school community. Key Responsibilities • Instructional Leadership: Collaborate with the Principal and faculty to implement and evaluate curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessments that promote student achievement and growth. • Student Support and Discipline: Oversee student discipline, promote a positive school climate, and implement restorative practices to support student development and conflict resolution. • Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, guardians, and community stakeholders to foster open communication and partnership in support of student success. • Staff Development: Support professional growth by mentoring teachers, facilitating professional development, and encouraging a collaborative and innovative teaching environment. • School Operations: Assist in managing daily school operations, including scheduling, safety protocols, and compliance with district and state regulations. • Culture and Climate: Lead initiatives to create an inclusive, respectful, and trusting school environment that values diversity and promotes equity. • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze student performance data to inform instructional practices and interventions, ensuring continuous improvement in student outcomes. • Event Coordination: Support school-wide events, extracurricular activities, and initiatives that enhance student engagement and community involvement. Qualifications • Education: Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field. • Certification: Valid New York State administrative certification (or eligibility for certification). • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of successful experience in education, with at least 2 years in a leadership role (e.g., teacher leader, department chair, or administrative position). Skills and Abilities: • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to positively relate to and interact with staff, students, and parents. • Proven success in fostering an environment of respect, trust, and collaboration. • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. • Knowledge of current educational trends, instructional strategies, and best practices in middle school education. • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices. • Ability to analyze data and use it to drive instructional and operational decisions. This is a full-time, 12-month position with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities for school events and activities.
