Bloomberg News is seeking an experienced journalist for a key role on its global crypto and digital payments team. We’re looking for a proven leader with a strong track-record of handling complex financial news that cuts across beats and time zones. This role involves commissioning, editing and shepherding work from reporters both on and off the team, with considerable bandwidth for creative approaches that span our Terminal, digital, TV and audio platforms.
You will have significant experience of handling both major breaking news on deadline and data-informed, newsy enterprise that helps our audience understand the changing dynamics of digital assets and financial technology broadly. We’re seeking someone with experience of working collaboratively with colleagues around the world, and who possesses a strong sense of how to convey the difference between important and merely urgent.
We'll trust you to: Edit short- and long-form copy: everything from short, bullet-point sentences to complex, ambitious enterprise Work closely with reporters across our global newsroom to develop and refine stories Cut through jargon of all kinds, making stories appealing and understandable to a broad financial audience. Be responsible for communicating and negotiating editorial priorities with a wide range of stakeholders across the world
You’ll need to have: At least 7 years of financial journalism experience At least 7 years of editing technology, regulations, Economy or financial markets news including breaking news and enterprise stories Experience working in a real-time news environment Strong news judgement Top-notch writing skills and the ability to craft concise, clean prose under intense deadline pressure Proficiency in creating and editing charts and evaluating and working with data The ability to work in a large, fast-paced newsroom which publishes high-visibility stories across a range of platforms Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization Bachelor's degree or degree-equivalent qualificationsLife at Bloomberg is many things, but it’s never dull.
