Purpose:
The Application Programming Interface Business Solutions Analyst will drive the success of our API-based digital distribution offering as part of our digital transformation program. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of business needs and technical API solutions to drive digital transformation within our company. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize APIs that support business operations, enhance system integrations, and deliver seamless customer experiences in a dynamic industry.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Business Requirements Gathering:Work closely with stakeholders, including product owner, client partners, business leaders, and technical teams, to gather, document, and analyze business requirements for API solutions.Translate business needs into functional and non-functional API requirements, ensuring alignment with company objectives.API Design & Integration:Collaborate with technical teams to design APIs that meet business needs, integrating with existing systems, databases, and third-party services.Ensure that API solutions are scalable, secure, and adhere to industry standards, particularly in the insurance and financial services sector.Participate in API lifecycle management, from conceptualization and design to testing, deployment, and maintenance.Process Optimization & Analysis:Conduct thorough analysis of business workflows and processes to identify opportunities for automation and API-driven solutions.Monitor and analyze API performance, identifying areas for improvement and optimization to enhance operational efficiency and user experience.Stakeholder Collaboration & Support:Act as a liaison between the business and technical teams, facilitating clear communication and ensuring that technical solutions meet business objectives.Provide ongoing support to internal teams, helping them troubleshoot and resolve issues related to API integrations.Compliance & Documentation:Ensure API solutions comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies, particularly in areas such as data security and privacy.Maintain comprehensive documentation of API design, integrations, and technical specifications.Customer Focus: Understand American Modern’s distribution partner needs, pain points, and preferences related to digital distribution in the insurance industry. Use customer insights to drive product improvements and enhance the overall user experience.Continuous Improvement & Innovation:Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to API development and integration in the financial services and insurance sectors.Propose new API-driven solutions and innovations that drive business growth, enhance customer experience, and improve operational efficiencies.Change Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external business partners for launch and Go-To-Market activities. In collaboration with the Product Owner, leverage the established Change Management framework and toolkit to achieve business objectives.
Required Technical Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Certification in Business Analysis (CBAP) or API-related certifications is a plus.Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in business analysis, particularly within the insurance or financial services industry.Proven experience working with APIs and OpenAPI standards, understanding RESTful APIs, SOAP, Web Services, and API management tools (e.g., Microsoft APIM, Apigee, MuleSoft, or AWS API Gateway).Experience in analyzing business processes and translating them into technical requirements for API solutions.Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.Knowledge of data formats such as JSON, XML, and experience with API documentation tools (e.g., Swagger, Postman).Familiarity with system integration platforms and tools.Basic understanding of cloud-based platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure) and their role in API deployment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
