Job Summary: Functions in an expanded role as an advanced practice provider or Physician Associate, performing acts of medical diagnosis and prescription of medical therapeutics or corrective measures, in collaboration with a physician, performing duties, primarily in outpatient settings, and inpatient settings as required. The APP works with an interdisciplinary team of primary caregivers and administrative support staff to perform assigned duties while displaying the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct as well as acting in the best interest of Aultman Medical Group, supporting our mission, vision, and values to optimize the health and well-being of our patients.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Outpatient Duties:
Perform initial assessment of patient’s medical, physical, and psychosocial status for initial history and physical assessment and documentation. Perform follow up visits in the office as assigned. Perform post op visit evaluations and assessment including but not limited to drainage tube removal, wound debridement, fill tissue expanders. Perform office surgical procedures. Perform non-invasive cosmetic procedures including but not limited to- Botox injections, fillers, micro-needling, chemical peels, dermablading. Provides medical direction to clinical staff regarding patient calls and follow up visits. Handle prescription refill requests for the practice Conduct peer to peer reviews with insurance companies as needed to obtain treatment authorization. Participate in clinical trial protocols (as requested) Employment status is contingent on the candidate’s success in credentialing as a member of our Allied Health Staff. Maintains professional development within the APP role. When necessary, facilitates communication between office and hospital.Other Duties
Performs diagnostic and therapeutic functions within the scope of APP practice as designated by clinical privileges and obtain informed consent as appropriate. A procedure note must be dictated for all clinical procedures for which the APP has privileges that require competency validation. Discusses medical plan/education with patient/family. Serve as a liaison between physicians and patient/family as needed to enhance communication and understanding. Utilizes computer programs such as CERNER, email, intranet, etc. Provides support and clinical expertise to nursing personnel regarding complex patient care issues. Participates in collaborative appraisal of his/her own practice with APP peers including mandatory compliance with peer review requirements. Provide for the educational needs of the patient/family through verbal and written teaching and development of educational materials. Provide for the educational needs of the community through verbal and written teaching and development of prevention and outreach materials.

Knowledge of and ability to apply professional primary care medicine principles, procedures, and techniques. Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment. Ability to perform under stress.
Possesses excellent written and oral communication, listening, and social skills. Mental/Physical Requirements: Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally requires lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 pounds. Requires correct vision and hearing in normal range. Requires working under stress in emergency situations and occasionally may involve irregular working hours.
Equipment Operated: Standard medical examination room equipment and instruments. May include use of computer/health information management system.
Work Environment: Combination of exam rooms and medical offices. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment
