JOB SUMMARY

The Advanced Practice Practitioner, Neurosurgery, is responsible for providing health care to patients in the hospital and office setting.  This position is responsible for working in consultation, cooperation, and coordination with a multiple supervising physicians. They will function according to the established standards and practices of medicine for Physician’s Assistants in the State of Texas.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education Master’s Degree Minimum Work Experience No previous experience  Required Licenses/Certifications BSN, MSN, ANP, or PA licensed in the state of Texas BSL Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Knowledge of medical practices, terminology, and reimbursement policies. Thorough knowledge of patient triage, diagnosis and evidenced-based care. Knowledge in overcoming barriers from diagnosis to treatment including: financial/economic, language/culture, transportation issues. Skill in planning, organizing, delegating, and supervising. Skill in evaluating the effectiveness of existing methods and procedures. Skill in problem solving. Skill in verbal and written communication. Skill in speaking engagements and other activities that raise awareness to diseases and disease processes. Ability to read, interpret and apply policies and procedures. Ability to set priorities among multiple requests. Ability to interact with patients, medical and administrative staff, and the public effectively.

Hospital-Based Neurosurgery APP Opportunity

Hendrick Health is establishing a Neurosurgery Hospital-Based Advanced Practice Provider (APP) service line. The team will consist of four Neurosurgery APPs who will support our neurosurgeons by providing health care to patients in the hospital and clinic setting. The APP responsibilities will include inpatient rounding, inpatient consults, ED consults, call coverage, providing support in the OR, and conducting follow-up visits in the clinic. Functions according to the established standards and practices of medicine for Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners in the State of Texas. Nurse Practitioner must have their Surgical First Assist (SFA).
