Application Development Engineer – Construction Sealants & Coatings
Job Title: Application Development Engineer – Construction Sealants & Coatings Summary:Working under the direction of the Lab Manager, oversee the day-to-day activity associated with the Construction Sealants Application Development Center testing, databasing, reporting and subsequent customer interaction. Responsibilities Include: + Support and collaborate with North American sales team to help grow sales and profitability in Insulating Glass, OEM manufacturing, Structural Glazing, Weatherseal, Roofcoat, Air-Water Barrier and Architectural Coatings segments through technical product-positioning and specification activities. Role includes external interaction with authorized distributors, direct customers, industry specification associates and trade associations. + Responsive on-site project and technical support for both pre-construction and active construction project needs primarily within NAM with some limited activity in Mexico. + Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product Management and Technology (R&D) to support technical needs within their functional area. This includes the creation of technical literature and support of New-Product-Introduction projects. + Active participation in assigned trade organizations, symposia and conferences (ASTM, ABAA, FGIA, etc.) with the objective to help develop and execute strategies that represent, safeguard and promote MPM interests. + Gather market competitive intelligence including new technologies, market trends, customer needs, IP opportunities and champion efforts to capitalize on opportunity by communicating and collaborating with MPM team associates in a timely and efficient manner. + Prepare and deliver technical presentations to specification base; Architects, Consultants, SCIPs and property owner/managers. + Write technical content for promotional materials for use to educate customers and marketplace and assist marketing communications to deliver professional, scientifically based presentations. + Interface with function teams and outside agencies to arrange for product testing to attain various industry certifications and performance test requirements for product differentiation and competitive advantage. + Create content and execute internal and external customer training programs, application procedure development, technical literature content creation, issue investigation and timely resolution. + Identify and create procedures, tools, literature and other technical concepts to support sales growth in segments. Collaborate with Marketing and R&D on development of new product concepts based on market analysis/needs, customer input and competitive product review/analysis. + Support NPIs, customer trials and tests, and additional ad-hoc activities as necessary + Completes other duties as assigned Travel: + Estimated 25% with some overnight travel Qualifications: The following are required for the role + BS/MS in Building Sciences, Material Science, Architectural or relevant Engineering or bachelor’s degree. + Strong organization skills with ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously + Ability to operate in a cross-functional team environment + Strong interpersonal skills + Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, Spanish fluency helpful + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, etc. + Proficiency in web-based and mobile applications + Self-motivated individual with a high level of creativity and technical interest + Ability to work independently and in a matrix team environment The following are preferred for this role: + Technically oriented individual with interest in the commercial construction industry. + Individual must be able to and have a comfort level to visit job site and factory settings for on-site support activity including roof-level work. This position demands physical stamina, requiring frequent sitting, standing, bending, stooping, crouching, twisting, turning, lifting, and movement within the facility. Walking on various surfaces and maintaining balance are essential. Strong sensory abilities, including hearing, sight, and clear speech, are necessary. Regular lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds are required. Most positions necessitate passing a fit test and wearing a respirator. The work environment is a laboratory setting. What We Offer:Base Pay Range: $75,300 - $110,440 The actua l salary offered i s determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, skill set s, and geography. Local geographic pay differentials may not be reflected in the above pay range and will be discussed with you by a member of the HR team when applicable .
