As a member of the Consulting Services Grid Integration and Stability (GIS) practice area, the selected candidate will be an active contributor to the GE Vernova business initiatives related to power systems and power electronics equipment and services to support energy transition.

Essential Responsibilities
Perform technical analysis related to power electronic and power systems control of renewable generation, battery energy storage systems, large industrial drives and FACTS.Support customers with power systems engineering expertise; including modeling, analysis, equipment design and specification, and failure mode analysisCreate, modify and parametrize simulation models representing GE Vernova inverter-based resource (IBR) products like wind turbines, solar and battery storageEvaluate grid code compliance standards and their impact on renewable energy projects in bulk power systemsSupport development of transmission and distribution connected IBR and distributed energy resource (DER) products for evolving codes and standards through participation in industry standards groupsPerform power system transient studies, and detailed equipment modeling using appropriate software toolsEffectively communicate results to both internal and external customers by preparing detailed written reports and presentations describing analyses performed, solutions developed, and customer value propositionsEnhance industry knowledge and present technical content in regional forums and conferences; serve as a thought leader in industry activitiesActively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service and innovation are importantQualifications/RequirementsMaster’s degree in electrical engineering or electric power engineeringMinimum three (3) years of industry experience performing transient analysis using simulation tools like PSCAD/EMTDC and EMTP and steady state and dynamic analysis using large data base simulation tools like PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSLF and DSATools i.e., PSAT, TSAT and SSAT.Minimum three (3) years of industry experience with the use and application of common programming languages (e.g. Python, MATLAB, FORTRAN)Strong background in power system analysisSolid understanding of inverter-based resources (control system) design and application considerationsEligibility RequirementsWillingness to travel for supporting project work, meeting team members, attending industry standard working group meetings and conferences (up to 10%)Desired CharacteristicsExcellent interpersonal communication skills (e.g. ability to effectively communicate with all levels of GE Vernova and customer/plant staff)Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, electric power engineering, or related field of study – no industry experience is required with this qualification Advanced experience with steady state and dynamic analysis using large data base simulation tools like PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSLF and use of programming languages like C and C++ is a plusAdvanced experience in creating and modifying dynamic user models in simulation tools like PSS/E, PowerFactory, DSATools i.e., PSAT, TSAT and SSATand PSLF is a plusExperience in electromagnetic transient simulation tools like PSCAD/EMTDC and EMTPAdvanced experience with dynamic and time-domain simulation tools (e.g. FORTRAN programming of user-written models in PSCAD (“black box” models) and in EMTP, use of Python/MATLAB scripting to automate execution and analysis of multiple simulations)Demonstrated application of complex mathematics and engineering to real-world electric power system problemsIEEE/CIGRE published articles related to power systems engineering topics, participation in industry standards working groupsThe base pay range for this position is 78,000 usd to 95,000 usd (potential flexibility for the right person). The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, geographical location, education, and skill set.
