Job Summary:

We are searching for someone to join our team as an Application Engineer and are specifically looking for someone who has had previous experience in this field. You will develop design information and performance ratings for industrial water tube boilers and heat recovery steam generators as a member of a cross-functional team. In this role, you will be responsible for technical knowledge related to assigned products, communicating this to other departments, and for providing the required technical support. 

Essential Functions:

Must possess thorough and relevant product knowledge. Will have contact with customers, consultant engineers and company representatives regarding industrial boilers, heat recovery steam generators (HRSG’s) and related auxiliaries. Must have strong communication skills and a background in heat transfer or power plant design. Using customer’s input(s) / specification(s) and initial design information from the sales department completes the product design and provides design output to drafting for final preparation of layout drawings. Prepares the project BOM identifying major components of the unit. Reviews the project drawings and documentation for good Engineering practices, company standards, and customer contract specifications. Evaluates design changes, specifications, and drawing releases. Performs bid evaluation for mechanical equipment. Supports other functional departments for technical issues. Perform thermal calculations for industrial watertube boilers and HRSGs. Must have ability to routinely travel domestically and internationally (10% travel) – generally by air and utilization of rental cars, and ability to handle luggage and attaché cases, etc., normal business travel of varying length duration. Must have or have the ability to obtain a passport. Demonstrates enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive behavior. Maintain a favorable working relationship with all employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established policies to achieve overall objectives of this position. Apply intellect, creativity, adaptability, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results. Ensure duties and company projects are accomplished in an efficient and cost effective manner. Support peers and management with internal and external projects. Adhere to company policies. Other duties as assigned.

Education:    

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred or related field.

Experience:

5+ years in related engineering experience preferred; Strong working knowledge of water tube boiler systems is desired. Good working knowledge of “Balance of Plant” equipment including fans, pumps, valves, and deaerators. Knowledge of A.S.M.E. BPVC Section 1 is preferred. Experienced with AutoCAD or Autodesk Inventor. Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Strong communication and organizational skills are preferred.

Physical Skill and Effort:

Limited manual dexterity required. Work requires infrequent physical effort. Work requires a few simple but rapid hand operations, with simple and easy muscular movements.

Working Conditions and Hazards:

Normal plant, shop, field, or field office office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features; negligible/little or no exposure to hazardous conditions.
