Roles & Responsibilities:

Derive and develop requirements for software inputs and model developmentDevelop in MATLAB, Simulink and C/C++ Autocode creation or other modeling softwareDevelopment of Hardware including assessing packaging constraints and interface needsWork with and analyze communication protocols like serial and ethernetDevelop procedures and execute testing on a virtual simulator, HITL Simulator, and on a locomotive

Required Skills (Technical Competency):

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related subjectExperience in MATLAB / SimulinkProven working experience (at least 1 year) in Subsystem design, development and testing of embedded systemsProven ability in requirements development and modelling developmentAbility and willingness to work "hands-on" in test labs and on locomotives with high HP (1000 KVA), medium voltage (2 KV) and high current (10 KA) systemsAbility to support off shift work as project needs dictate

Desired Skills:

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject3+ years of Control Design experienceExperience with system and component level validation testingDemonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problemsHigh personal energy and self-accountabilityStrong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences

 

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Mostly Office Environments, Occasional Shop Floor involvement.Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work.Heavily Regulated Industries with strict adherence to procedures.Flexibility to meet business deadlines by staying late or arriving early.Typical 8 hour days plus lunch / 40 hour weeks / core (required) hours are 9AM to 4PMAbility to use personal transportation to visit customer locations.
