Application Engineer
The Application Engineer will play a crucial supportive role in partnering with the sales team and the Technical Manager(s) in addressing client needs from a process and technical capability perspective. Reporting to the Director of Sales and Marketing and guided by the Technical Manager(s), this role ensures that our technical solutions align with client requirements and business objectives. The Application Engineer will develop an understanding of our products, applications, services, and policies to offer high-quality technical support. They will assist the sales team in understanding client needs and provide technical expertise to develop tailored solutions. Under the guidance of the Technical Manager(s), they will integrate product, process, and application knowledge to solve technical challenges for customers. Additionally, they will help maintain and expand existing business relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and loyalty. The Application Engineer will participate in planning and product trails with customers and be responsible for documenting their engagement and communicating up the chain what actions need to be taken to solve the customers’ problems and deliver value. They will provide technical support across various markets, including Precision Industrial, Aerospace, Metallurgy and Electronics. Conducting market research and providing insights into value chains and market dynamics will be part of their responsibilities, along with supplying upper management with market information and updates to support informed decision-making. While the role does not involve direct price negotiations, the Application Engineer will maintain an awareness of the commercial aspects of client relationships. Essential Functions: New business development: + Assist in identifying, developing, and defining technical solutions that meet client needs in new and existing markets by leveraging the product portfolio and technical competencies. + Collaborate with the team to develop strategies and criteria for evaluating new technical opportunities and solutions. + Collaborate with the sales team to coordinate requirements and develop technical proposals that align with business operations, without direct involvement in price negotiations. + Develop strong relationships at target accounts by providing technical expertise and differentiating through value and solutions-oriented support. + Work closely with internal and external commercial and technical teams to understand the needs for new products, unlocking new markets and technical business opportunities. Manage all aspects of the ongoing relationship of key accounts: + Provide on-demand technical support to key accounts, ensuring alignment with their business objectives and technical needs. + Assist in understanding client product requirements and relay pertinent information to internal teams to support the development of a comprehensive product roadmap. + Stay informed about market evolution, industry changes, and technological advancements. + Collaborate and contribute to technical responses to client requests, ensuring timely and accurate communication. + Support the resolution of product quality issues by providing technical assistance as needed. Support internal business processes: + Collect, analyze and transmit market intelligence regarding customers, market evolution, competitors and technology trends in order to guide the direction of new product development pipeline. + Support Marketing to develop a product portfolio by gathering and organizing critical product information and presenting in requested format. Requirements: A minimum of 1 year of Commercial (sales, marketing) experience in technical field, including market research is required. A minimum of 1 year of Applications Support experience in Aerospace, Metallurgy, Electronics, Semiconductor, Industrial polishing/abrasives markets is required. Digital tools related to Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Office (Excel & Powerpoint) is required. Knowledge of customers, markets, technologies and applications related to electronics, semiconductor, industrial and molten metals processing. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $79,500 to $123,500 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $87,400 to $135,800. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
