Application Engineer
Job Title: Application EngineerJob Description The Applications Engineer ensures the sales quotation, product identification, and system design processes run smoothly, providing the best possibility of a successful and profitable application. This position will work closely with inside sales, customer service, and regional sales managers. It relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, follow proper procedures, and promote open communication in line with strategic initiatives. The role coordinates and reports on the work of others. Responsibilities + Establish guidelines for acceptable performance language and outline environmental/product parameters for optimal system performance. + Work with the sales team and lab technician to identify the right solutions for customer satisfaction and company performance reputation. + Collaborate with purchasing to identify technical specifications and integration capabilities. + Balance multiple projects and quotations in various stages as directed by the Technical Sales Manager. + Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including special projects. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering/Design or five years of relevant experience. + Five years of progressive experience in engineering/design in packaging and/or processing manufacturing environment or equivalent. + Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. + Critical thinking skills to identify needs, predict obstacles, assess solutions, and communicate risk/reward evaluations with supporting documentation. + Ability to work closely with other departments, employees, and customers, ensuring clear and open communication. + Detail-oriented with an understanding of the importance of everything that leaves the facility. + Time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously. + High level of expertise in layout/design concepts and mechanical engineering, preferably in packaging or processing. + Continuous education-driven mindset, looking to improve daily and lead by example. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with AutoCAD. + Experience with pneumatic conveying. + Experience with packaging systems. + A background in controls is a plus. Work Environment This position operates primarily in a professional office setting and may involve the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. It may also operate in manufacturing areas and is subject to both indoor (manufacturing floor) and outdoor environmental conditions (occasional site visits). This role may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, mandatory hearing protection, and safety footwear. Exposure to various physical conditions/hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, chemicals, dust, fumes, poor ventilation, and varying temperatures may occur. Physical requirements include frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, typing, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, bending, crouching, and manual dexterity. The role requires clear hearing and verbal communication skills, as well as strong visual acuity. The position may require occasional travel and does not have supervisory responsibilities. The work environment is hybrid, with in-office presence three days a week preferred, but open to remote candidates as well. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $57.69/hr.
