Application Engineer - Well Services

Job Overview 

The Application Engineer will be responsible for the design, planning, application, and support of Well Services Group. This includes post drilling analysis within intermediate to complex wells/projects on a country/region/global basis. The engineer will work closely with the subsurface disciplines, well systems and regulatory to come up with the safest and most efficient plans to drill a well meeting all expectations. The Well Services Application Engineer will work under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, Project Engineers, and/or Application Engineers of higher level.

 

Responsibilities:

Support our Health Safety and Environment policies. Safety Always - Rules to Live By. Familiar and understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions. Managing all aspects of project preparation and proposals for common Well Services wells Responsible for ensuring Weatherford best practices are adhered to in all drilling proposals and programs. Provide engineering support to operations from the office. Coordinate Well Service projects in the field when required. Support and/or conduct HAZID/HAZOP, DWOP, and well planning meetings. Keep track of lessons learned and its applications in following operations. Prepare operating procedures in accordance to type of operation a. Follow up in real time all regional Well Services jobs and optimize overall performance. Contact WFT representative in the operations and optimize the Well Services process if required by making calculations and recommendations based on well monitoring. Keep in constant communications with customers, during and after jobs, updating them with results. Manage single phase and multiphase, steady state and transient, hydraulic simulators. Manage. Support operators with well balancing, surge/swab, torque and drag, directional drilling and casing running calculations. Support Well Services Application and Project Engineers of higher level on coordinating projects. Prepare Real Results, Magazine articles, and technical papers. Perform Well Services jobs audit. Review and approve rig visit (onshore/offshore)  Field Engineer and/or other field related role when requested by management (Regional and/or Global), including but not limited to operating the system. Have an active role with the Sales/Business development group with client meetings and presentations. Preparation and delivery of technical presentation, engineering studies, end of well reports, etc. Provide mentoring to junior field and application engineers. Keep updated on other Weatherford products and services that could help the operator to optimize their drilling/completion process. Complete all competency requirements identified by Global and Regional Management. At the discretion of management (Regional and/or Global), may be required to complete training required to become Qualified Competency Assessor and perform competency assessments on Well Services personnel when required. Perform all duties regarding Well Services and Weatherford assigned by management or supervisors within the physical demand of the job description.

 

Skills:

Ability and willingness to learn thru a structured development program which includes internal and external courses, external certifications and practical on the job training (both office and field). Proven English language communication skills required (both oral and written). Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft suite. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment Professional manner with a positive customer service attitude Excellent problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple projects with a positive attitude Proven time and project management skills Lead workshops, attended by clients and personnel, aimed at analysing and mitigating risks. Excellent communication skills 

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited University 2-4 experience in oil field on either Thru Tubing/Completions/Coiled Tubing/Well Services or production experience   2+ years related work experience as Field Engineer I or equivalent preferred Project Management experience in minimum of 2 projects.
