Back to search Location: St. Cloud, MN Department: Information Systems Posted: 02/21/2025 Location Name: ATS Corporate - St. Cloud, MN Wage Max: 20.00 Hourly Wage Min: 18.00 Hourly Position Type: Internship Shift: Standard Summary The Applications Developer Intern is responsible for the development, and implementation of application software under the direction of more senior developers. This role assists in providing technical consulting to teammates as well as actual programming services to bring those desired solutions to production. This position’s work is closely paired with other developers and works on projects/matters of introductory complexity and or in a support role. Education and Experience + High school diploma or equivalent and enrolled in a four-year degree in software development area. Those in a Masters program would also be qualified for this role. + Education and work experience with Java is a plus (specific experience using Swing GUI a plus). + Introductory understanding of object-oriented programming. + Ability to generate standardized documentation + Introductory level analytical, conceptual, and creative problem-solving abilities + Ability to translate an idea or need into a potential/proposed solution or work product. + Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of people and cultures. + Experience with IntelliJ (or similar IDEs) a plus. + Must be able to demonstrate a proactive commitment to ATS corporate values and the success of all staff. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required. + Excellent communication skills (written, listening, and verbal). + Willing and able to travel infrequently, including overnight travel. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Review standards with more senior developers in determining the best design to meet project requirements. Responsible for implementing approved design with guidance. + Perform programming assignments of introductory complexity requiring an entry level aptitude of established programming standards, methods, and best practices. + Paired with more senior developers, design application and database components for development projects. + Participate in analyzing business requirements and specifications to propose and build effective solutions—potentially including EDI-to-API migration or other integration tasks. + Learn from more senior developers and apply analysis of business models, logical specifications, and/or customer requirements to design and build/code solutions utilizing multiple technologies, languages and frameworks. + Mitigate simple risks associated with projects, which have limited technical complexity and/or involve minimal challenges to the business. + Assist with managing the proper change control to ensure expected results are moved into production after proper testing is completed. + Provide feedback to management, business analysts and end users relative to estimated effort and periodic status updates to completion at each stage. + As needed, participate in training sessions with end users highlighting feature sets of programs and intended uses and results. + Assist in providing support for ATS’s Transportation Management System (TMS). + Assist in conducting research into new technologies and revising team practices, including tools, components, and frameworks. + Proactively share knowledge within the development team. + Assist with project / task management and reporting, as necessary. + Make presentations to peer groups as requested. + Understands and consistently performs in accordance with ATS Mission, Vision, and Values. + Support ATS’ culture by aligning actions, behaviors, performance, and decisions in accordance with the Company’s values as set forth in our All-Employee Competencies. + Complete work responsibilities outside of normal business hours as needed and infrequent travel may be required. + Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Compensation & Benefits: + The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is between $18.00 - $20.00. Hourly pay rate offered is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, and geographic location as compared to others doing substantially similar work .
