We are seeking a applications engineer to work on our Customers Site (ESA-ESTEC) in the Netherlands. This is a fantastic opportunity to get into one of the most sought-after space agencies in the world. 

Main Responsibilities

As an applications engineer you will concentrate your activities on the following:

Shape the Future of Space Applications – Identify cutting-edge services and applications that harness the power of Earth Observation, Satcom, and Satellite Navigation—and integrate them into real-world solutions.

Drive Innovation & Sustainability – Work with pioneering space startups to ensure their solutions are not only technically feasible but also economically viable and environmentally sustainable.

Assess & Elevate – Evaluate industrial proposals, develop strategies with application providers, and help innovative space businesses thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.

Bridge Space & Industry – Analyse how space-based assets can revolutionize non-space sectors, from climate monitoring to smart agriculture—making a real impact on global sustainability.

Support the ESA Process – Guide new projects through ESA’s frameworks, helping them secure funding, navigate feasibility studies, and achieve market success.

Successful Candidate

Do you think you are the person we are looking for? See below what experience or knowledge you should bring:

A passionate engineer with a Master’s degree in a relevant field.

Experienced in space applications, satellite systems, or related industries (bonus points if you have a sustainability background!).

Familiar with downstream space services and their potential for industries like green energy, environmental monitoring, and urban planning.

Skilled in evaluating proposals and feasibility studies, with a sharp business mindset.

A strong problem solver with excellent communication skills—able to bridge technical insights with business needs.

Ready to work in an international, fast-paced environment with a forward-thinking team.
