Supervises Application Engineering staff to execute the product strategy in alignment to the corporation’s growth initiatives. Responsible for the Application Engineering team performance against defined metrics, driving continuous improvement to maximize team effectiveness and efficiency.Develops the Application Engineering team personnel in accordance with individual performance objectives and in line with overall functional objectives. Manages performance and development to expand the Application Engineering team’s capability and capacity.Manages the Application Engineering team’s technical interface with customers, suppliers, design partners and regulatory bodies in support of business objectives.Supports for management of the technical documentation configuration control, ensuring design and material consistency in accordance to customer and regulatory requirements.Collaborates in the new product development portfolio, delivering new validated products in alignment to the corporation’s product market strategy.Participates in the continuous upgrade, optimization and automation of the global organization’s design tools, leveraging technology to improve accuracy, speed, and design process performance.Participates in the organization’s execution of an inorganic growth strategy through technical due diligence of corporate acquisition targets for intellectual property, completeness of design documentation, product design integrity, technical risk, and technical fit into the corporation’s product portfolio.Participates in the management of product design standards, product drawings and supporting documentation, material specifications as well as material design data, encouraging standardization of design methods, product definitions, material testing, and consistent utilization of standards to optimize product selection and design activity.Completes tasks in partnership with the commercial and marketing organization to support the growth of new and existing products through development and deployment of a product launch plan as well as generation of externally facing technical product promotional resources.Completes tasks in partnership with operations to ensure new product designs fit within existing manufacturing capabilities and assists with the identification of new manufacturing capabilities to extend product design flexibility and performance reach.Leads the development of a material development specifications to define the performance needs and functional requirements of new materials. Provides a product and material validation plan to ensure new materials and products are launched in a manner that mitigates performance risks.Completes tasks in partnership with operations and Master Data Management to ensure new products are well defined for integration into the organizations ERP system, including part number structure, nomenclature, critical master data characteristics for product data management and retrieval, etc.Ensures the continuous improvement and maintenance of existing product master data to streamline production and more effectively manage ERP product data.Completes tasks in partnership with operations to develop optimized product manufacturing using automation and assist in product integration into the Smart Factory initiative.Required Minimum Qualifications
Education/Certifications: B.S. in Engineering discipline required; Preference given to candidates with advanced degree in Engineering, Business, or other relevant field.
Skills and Experience:
8 years of related Engineering experience; Customer-facing experience preferred.Design experience using 2D and 3D Drafting and Modeling softwareExperience with material testing and material data analysis preferredBlack Belt or Green Belt certification preferredTechnical experience in a regulatory requirement required (AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, etc)Ability to operate in global cross-functional team environmentEffective technical communication / presentation skills with internal and external customersAbility to travel up to 20% of time for strategic business needsJob Environment:
