Family Description

Applied R&D (AR) consists of target-oriented research either with the goal of solving a particular problem / answering a specific question or for multi-discipline design, development, and implementation of hardware, software, and systems including maintenance support. Supplies techno-economic consulting to clients. AR work is characterised by its detailed and complex nature in order to systematically combine existing knowledge and practices to further developing and incrementally improving products, operational processes, and customer-specific feature development.

Subfamily Description

Software (SWA) comprises the definition, specification, and allocation of requirements from different sources utilising knowledge of systems engineering processes (specification & architecture). Contains processing of use case and feature requirements into conceptual models, operational scenarios, technical requirements, and functional description. Covers specification, design, implementation, and unit testing of Software (e.g. device drivers, microcode, hardware-related software & firmware) according to the requirements and architecture defined in the systems engineering process. Covers establishment and maintenance of Software Configuration Management (SCM) practices into software development projects, continuously building and integrating infrastructure tools and systems.

 

Impact

Impact is short-term and usually departmental/project in scope. Accountable for quality, accuracy and efficiency of own and/or team achievements. Actions and errors can have program, project, functional impact.

Scope & Contribution

Individual Contributor: Performs and/or coordinates day-to-day activities to meet departmental/project objectives. Carries out root/cause analysis in more complex problems. Can develop and implement recommendations. Managerial/Supervisory: Direct supervisory responsibilities for people. Typically first level (and lowest level) of solid line management. Carries out variety of complex activities according to plan within broader area of responsibility, analyses problems. Decision-making typically according to established solutions.

Responsible for on-site or remote customer expert support for Nokia NAC, NOrC and UIV products Responsible for NAC, NOrC & UIV L4 customer case handling activities and support for Care and Services units Handle Crisis/ 24x7 Emergency support as needed Contribute towards innovative initiatives to improve product troubleshooting and work towards needed tooling. Responsible for NPI (New product introduction) deployments and troubleshooting Supports system upgrades, migrations and customer projects for implementation activities on various platforms Responsible for creating and delivering Certification trainings for Nokia internals

Knowledge & Experience

10+ years of experience in Engineering or Services in Assurance, Orchestrate and Fulfillment areas 

Proven expertise with Nokia NAC, NOrC and UIV products Excellent knowledge of GSM/UMTS/LTE/IMS/5G networks, protocols and call flows Experience in VNF / CNF / Helm-based deployments over NCS, NCP, OCP, AWS and other CaaS platforms Proficiency in scripting languages (Shell, PERL, Python, Ansible) Unix & Linux Systems (installation, administration, use) Solid understanding of computer networking: TCP/IP, DNS, TLS handshakes, certificates and authentication, higher level protocols like HTTP, WebSockets and gRPC, VPN, SOCKS and HTTP proxies Highly organized with strong focus on driving results Results oriented and team player Excellent customer handling, communication and interpersonal skills Analytical mindset with strong troubleshooting skills and always willing to learn and excel Passionate and proactive in contributing to improve teams productivity, efficiency and customer-experience

 

Lead & perform troubleshooting activities of high complexity features. Lead technically and support multiple challenges and features in the completion of a project/stream. Lead technical discussions with peers about enhancements/improvements in own area(s) of expertise. Create parts of architecture (small/basic) with focus on performance & scale. Drive support for non-functional requirements within team. Effectively handles complex customer issues. Improves the live troubleshooting based on the outcome measurable product behavior. Owns complex feature knowledge and ensure support delivery completion with quality.
