By joining our summer intern team, you'll gain hands-on experience in our Applied Research & Technology Department to drive forward our important work and mission. Additionally, our leaders will offer you tangible feedback to help guide and support you throughout the summer. Upon completion of your internship, you will have the unique opportunity to present your final project deliverables to our department leaders and Executive Team. INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW: As an Applied Research & Technology Lab Intern, you will learn to operate and assess MALDI mass spectrometers and/or techniques surrounding cfTNA assays from human specimens. You’ll also gain insight into cancer research (hematological and solid tumors) and the process of assay development in clinical diagnostics. Your internship will conclude with a presentation of the data you’ve generated to your lab peers. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Operate and assess MALDI mass spectrometers and/or cfTNA assays. Learn about cancer types (hematological and solid tumors) and assay development in clinical diagnostics. Maintain an up-to-date lab notebook. Plan, execute, and progressively lead experiments with guidance. Ensure the lab environment remains clean and functional. Participate in lab meetings and present data. Assist with lab workflows and ancillary duties. Troubleshoot data and analyze results for further research. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: Currently pursuing a degree in biology, genetics, molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. A strong desire to learn and contribute to research. Previous undergraduate lab experience is a plus but not required.
