Appraisal Assistant I (20-25 hours per week)

The hiring range for this opportunity is $20.00 to $23.00 hourly along with incentive opportunities and is commensurate with qualifications and experience, creating a competitive total compensation package based on our pay scale, and may be modified by location.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Appraisal Assistant provides support for Appraisal Department functions, performing both clerical and administrative duties.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares engagement letters and follows up on progress of assignments.

• Uses a combination of Access database and Microsoft Outlook taskbar programs to initiate and track the ordering and delivery of real estate appraisal reports and subsequent fee payments for services of bank fee panel appraisers.

• Maintains the Bank’s fee panel appraiser list. 

• Assembles required information from prospective new appraisers and prepares it for review by Chief Appraiser.

• Compiles annual department income and expense reports. 

• Screens incoming postal and inter-branch mail.  

• Processes vendor invoices and works with Chief Appraiser on disposition of other correspondence.

• Screens commercial appraisal requests and required documents from the branches.  

• Contacts branches to obtain any additional or deficient information required to properly solicit bids from commercial fee panel appraisers.

• At the direction of the Chief Appraiser, solicits fee and delivery time quotes from fee panel appraisers.  

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Screens incoming telephone calls when requested.

• Assists with maintaining a system of archiving dated appraisal reports for future access.

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

• Complies with and maintains a current understanding of privacy regulations – Gramm-Leach Bliley Act and Non-public Personal Information (NPPI), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) and beginning basic knowledge of Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

• Working knowledge of Bank appraisal processes and procedures.

• Maintains a current understanding of stated procedures and policies, including regulatory compliance issues.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Real Estate related experience required, and some post high school or college level courses preferred.

• 1 - 2 years prior office experience.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Effective organizational skills.

• Ability to prioritize work on multiple projects.

• Ability to utilize personal computers and Windows driven programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook with a modest understanding of Access.
