Whaler Industrial Contracting, part of the Trotter & Morton Group of Companies, provides tailored industrial construction and management services, specializing in general and mechanical projects for the oil and gas industry in Western Canada. Whaler Industrial Contracting operates as a general and prime contractor specializing in mechanical and structural construction. Our focus is on small to large-scale capital projects, shutdowns, emergencies, and preventative maintenance for clients in the oil and gas, energy, and heavy industrial sectors.

We are looking to hire individuals who will contribute to our team of dedicated personnel by bringing their experience and willingness to learn to every project. We are currently looking for Apprentices and Journeypeople Pipefitters, Iron Workers, Millwrights to join our team!

Job Specifics

Location: Enmax Calgary Energy Centre, 114417 68th Street NE Hours: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM Project Duration: October 10, 2024 - October 26, 2024

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsibilities will vary based on role experience. Preference will be given to those who can; Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirements Make detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, assemble and install metal, plastic and fiberglass pipes, valves and fittings Cut openings for pie in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines Select type and size of pipe required Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system Install supports, valves, piping and control systems Test system for leaks using testing equipment Clean and maintain pipe units, fittings and flush system Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system Mentor and train apprentices (if applicable) Perform other duties as required

Required Skills

Strong work ethic and positive team attitude Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy Good verbal and written communication skills Result orientated

Required Experience

Apprenticeship schooling and hours or Journeyperson Certificate Must meet pre-employment requirements CSTS 2022 WHIMIS First Aid Confined Space (if available)
