Job Description
The Avista Utilities Candidate Pool for Apprentice Protection Control Meter Tech is being opened to identify qualified individuals interested in the Apprentice Protection Control Meter Tech Apprenticeship. Locations and assignments will vary. Upon completion of the apprenticeship, journeyman opportunities may not be in work locations that the apprentice had trained in.
Test generating equipment, measuring instruments and other components of the electrical system for proper operation and makes or suggests corrections where necessary. Diagnoses and repairs all electrical system components for the restoration of service. Tests and maintains complex relays, meters and regulators for generators, transformers, transmission, distribution and co-generation systems, which include electro-mechanical, solid state, pneumatic and non-electrical equipment.
Requirements
18 years of age or older.Ability to successfully complete within 180 days of hire company in-house programs or high school/college equivalent courses which may require taking standardized tests to ensure requirements are met: (Must attach certificate of completion to application if previously completed)
Basic Math Algebra
Basic Electricity 1 Basic Electricity 2 Math/Trigonometry for Electrical Workers Documentation of High school graduation or completed GED. Two years of Technical School or College training in a related field or successful completion of an apprenticeship in a related electrical craft (Electrician, Electric Meter, Power Plant Operator, etc.) Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Valid driver's license. Copy/abstract of driving record for at least the last 36 months. Meet physical condition requirements; be able to perform work as evidenced by medical and job-related examinations.To Apply
