Overview

The Children’s Mercy Division of Urgent Care provides the highest-level care to sick and injured children and adolescents in the Kansas City region. We have three pediatric urgent cares (North, East and Blue Valley) where patients receive skilled care from highly trained and passionate health care professionals. This position will float to all three locations. The APRN will work seven 10 hour shifts (10 am – 8 pm) in a pay period. They will work as part of a team to provide high level care for children, birth-18 years, with a variety of chief medical complaints. They will provide autonomous direct patient management, with the ability to collaborate with urgent care physicians.  Responsibilities include completing thorough history and physical assessments, ordering/interpreting lab tests, developing differential diagnosis, implementing plans of care and coordinating the disposition process.  The APRN will be expected to work effectively with the medical team by communicating clearly with families, working well with physicians and physician trainees, being a resource for nursing staff and collaborating with multiple subspecialties that function at the North, East and Blue Valley Urgent Cares.

 

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses II (APRN-II) provides proficient, comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. An APRN II obtains a comprehensive health history; performs physical examination; formulates a plan of care and treatment; prescribes/performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and procedures; and participates in patient and family education. Each APRN-II demonstrates professional leadership and participates in evidenced-based practice, quality improvement, and/or research activities, and organizational development.

Qualifications Master's Degree and 1-2 years experience 1-2 years pediatric APRN experience with Masters. Exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis within preferred specialty. orDoctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) - preferred and 1-2 years experience 1 year pediatric APRN experience.
